Schällibaum im Kanton St.Gallen

English see below

Bild Maria Isabel,

as described above - all Swiss Schällibaum originate from canton St.Gallen. There are 5 potential places of citizenship for your ancestors - but the city of St.Gallen can be excluded: the city has been publishing an "Ortsbürgerbuch" at regular intervals since mid-19th century - but no suitable Johann and Friedrich are mentioned. This leaves the other 4 communities in the canton as "candidates".

What next? Johann was born around 1866 - and likely emigrated (with his parents?) after 1876 - so he should be registered at the Civil Registry Office of his place of citzenship. I would recommend to contact all offices, and enquire, whether they can identify Johann and his family on their register. Second question (in case they can identify him): what are you expected to do to get a "Familienschein"? Give them as much info as you have, to make life easier for them.

Alt St.Johann: Zivilstandsamt Obertoggenburg
Krummenau: Zivilstandsamt Obertoggenburg
Oberuzwil: Zivilstandsbeamtin Oberuzwil
Wildhaus: Zivilstandsamt Wildhaus
